Kensium is currently seeking a Solution Architect to join our Solution Architecture and Design Practice. You will have the exciting opportunity to drive insights and innovation for our client’s public-facing web properties, primarily using Commerce platforms like Shopify, BigCommerce, and Magento. This role requires an entrepreneurial spirit and a well-rounded technical skillset to develop solutions that help brands engage customers across digital channels.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical solution and outcome of a project from start to finish.
• Consult with clients to understand their needs and guide them to the optimal technical solutions.
• Promote quality best practices in software engineering and systems operations.
• Design and implement automation processes to empower development teams.
• Maintain and enhance software delivery systems to ensure health and efficiency.
• Participate in architecture discussions and process improvements.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across multiple regions.
• Analyze data to continuously improve processes and systems.
• Assist in pre- and post-sales technical scoping, requirements gathering, and solution creation.
• Align client business needs with Magento’s capabilities and produce technical specifications.
• Provide day-to-day application support when required.

Qualifications and Basic Requirements

• Minimum of 4+ years of PHP web development experience.
• Minimum of 4+ years of real-world eCommerce experience developing for Magento, Shopify, or BigCommerce.
• Prior experience in a Consulting/Architecture position.
• Bachelor’s degree in Informatics, Computer Science, MIS, or a related field (PLUS).
• Strong understanding of data structures, workflow, and project scoping.
• Familiarity with Project Management Software (Wrike, Jira, DoneDone, SmartSheets).
• Experience with Zend Framework, Symfony, Core PHP, PHP frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of Git-based source control, PHP OOP & MVC applications, and MySQL databases.
• Expert knowledge of web technologies (HTML/XML/PHP/JavaScript).
• Hands-on experience with Magento, BigCommerce, or Shopify.
• Solutions-oriented thinking and a passion for learning new technologies.

Skills and Technical Requirements

• Expert understanding of Magento’s code structure, extension architecture, and theming hierarchy.
• Expertise in Magento extension development and integration.
• Proficient in APIs for BigCommerce and Shopify.
• Experience with complex integrations involving ERP, CRM (SalesForce), and recommendation engines.
• Familiarity with automated testing tools (Selenium, New Relic) and deployment strategies (Jenkins, Bitbucket).
• Knowledge of PCI/PA-DSS compliance, caching, and scaling techniques.
• Experience with multi-store, multi-lingual, or multi-currency e-commerce implementations.
• Proficiency with CSS preprocessors (SASS/LESS) and JavaScript libraries (jQuery).
• Experience with Linux-based systems and web services integrations (REST/SOAP).

Plus
